CULTURAL EXCHANGE

Cultural Exchange enhances understanding between peoples so that they begin to see and focus on their similarities rather than their differences. It is powerful when two people or two groups from dissimilar backgrounds begin to discover common experiences, common fears, common solutions to their everyday lives. When these discoveries are made everyone is much less likely to be convinced that it is necessary to call the other people their enemy and to pick up a gun to kill them. When we participate in cultural exchange, we begin to see that we are all part of the family we call “human”. We begin to appreciate cultural exchange that offers us new and fresh viewpoints, experiences, tastes, sounds and adventures. In the global community we have treasures and cultural diversity that bring us cultural exchange, the jewels of the joys of life.

The Learning Center for Human Development promotes cultural exchange programs that provide fresh avenues for exploring cultural exchange and diversity. This assists the global community to find peace and cultural exchange with their neighbors rather than seek ways to destroy them. It has been said when we do not understand something, we will fear it. What we fear, we will eventually seek to destroy. This is why Cultural Exchange is so important. When we can step in and provide ways for people to explore cultural exchange and diversity they begin to appreciate the differences rather than fear them. This is why Cultural Exchange is so important. With Cultural Exchange this oftentimes can translate into agreeing to disagree while maintaining respect for everyone involved.

Peace begins one person at a time, one group at a time, one nation at a time, until the global community builds appreciation and tolerance for all. Cultural exchange is a key to peace and understanding.
